This variety was born in the city of Otaru in Hokkaido, and also called as Hokkou. Almost all cherry farms which have planted cherries from long time in Hokkaido have Suimon in their farms. Ripen Suimon is very delicious. But when early picked, it has a strong sour taste. It is good to be leaved in the trees until cherries turned purple. Harvest season is from late-July to early-August.
