There is also a way to grow cherries from seeds, but this is not recommended because the seeds of cherries are obtained from the fruit of a cross between the variety of the tree on which they grew and another type of tree that flew to the flower, so there is no way of knowing what kind of cherry they will grow.
We conducted a test at our garden about 30 years ago, and the germination rate seems to be very poor, with only one bud appearing out of 1,000 seeds planted.
It is best to purchase cherry seedlings from a nursery.

It can be planted on flat land, in the mountains, or on the ground, but cherries are the second most fruit trees after peaches that require air for their roots, so they should be planted in well-drained soil if possible.
Also, places where the wind is too strong are not good. (especially during flowering period)

There are two types of planting: autumn and spring, but autumn planting after the leaves have fallen allows for better survival and better seedling growth.
However, in areas with a lot of snow, there is a risk of being attacked by field mice, so you need to take precautions. (If there is grass growing around the seedling, cut it short. Make sure there are no gaps between the snow and the ground.)
Also, if the ground is likely to freeze due to cold weather and weaken the roots, plant in spring. In areas where the ground is cold, when purchasing seedlings, stand in the shade, soak the roots in water for about a day, and plant as soon as possible (in areas with snow, plant immediately after the snow melts).

Dig a planting hole about 80 cm in diameter and 60 to 80 cm deep, spread a mixture of soil (topsoil) and compost on the bottom, and plant on top of it, making sure not to plant too deep.
Fill in the gaps between the roots with fine soil, shaking it well to avoid leaving any gaps. (If there is too much air, the roots in that area will wither.)
There is no problem even if you do not add anything else, but early growth will improve if you add some phosphoric acid fertilizer and calcium fertilizer.
Also, when first planted, the root area is shallow and too dry, so try to prevent it from drying out by spreading straw or black mulch around the roots (this is not necessary if you can water frequently).

Plant the trees at 4-5m intervals, and thin the trees when they grow a little larger. It begins to flower and bear fruit around the fourth year, but it takes up to 10 years for the tree to reach its full size (an adult tree).

It is very important to know the true taste of the variety as early as possible. It is difficult to repot once the variety has grown, so it is important to find out how delicious the variety will be as soon as possible.
