“Aren’t cherries an early summer fruit?”

A: When people think of cherries, many probably picture Yamagata or Yamanashi Prefecture. Since cherries there are harvested around June, they are called an “early summer fruit” because that is when they ripen.

At our farm in Ashibetsu City, Hokkaido, cherry harvesting typically continues from around late June until around early August, and in years with a particularly abundant crop, visitors may be able to enjoy cherries until around mid-August. This means you can enjoy a wide variety of cherries over a long period, from early summer through summer.
